On June 3rd, Diia.City United hosted its major quarterly meetup: FutureTech: Artificial Intelligence — The Future in a New Reality.
We kicked off the main event program with a lightning panel on “5 Steps for AI Development in Ukraine” — exploring how AI is changing the rules of the game in business, science, and everyday life.
The discussion was moderated by Iryna Volnytska, President of SET University, with speakers including Oleksiy Nishchyk, Chief Growth Officer at Genesis, Daria Romashchenko, Senior IP Lawyer at AEQUO, Yaroslav Prytula, First Vice-Rector of UCU Online, and Danylo Tsvyok, Chief AI Officer at the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Here are the most compelling insights from the panel.
AI in Business: From Automation to Revolution
Oleksiy Nishchyk shared how Genesis leverages AI to optimize business processes:
We’re implementing AI gradually — from simple automation of routine tasks to complex analytical solutions. The key is not trying to replace people immediately, but helping them work more efficiently.
According to the speaker, the biggest impact comes from using AI for big data analysis and personalizing user experiences. Companies that have already started integrating these technologies gain a significant competitive advantage.
AI won’t replace people, but people who use AI will replace those who don’t, Oleksiy emphasized.
Legal Challenges of AI: What Businesses Need to Know
Daria Romashchenko highlighted the legal aspects of artificial intelligence adoption:
We’re currently at the stage of forming a new legal reality. The European AI Act already establishes clear rules, and it’s important for Ukrainian businesses to prepare for these changes.
The lawyer emphasized key risks:
- Liability for AI-made decisions
- Personal data protection in model training
- Algorithm transparency for users
- Ethical aspects of AI usage
Companies need to develop internal AI usage policies now and prepare for new regulations, the expert advises.

Scientific Perspective: AI’s Boundaries and Possibilities
Yaroslav Prytula shared the scientific view on AI development:
We often overestimate AI’s short-term capabilities and underestimate its long-term potential. Mathematically, AI has clear limitations, but its potential for solving specific tasks is enormous.
The scientist emphasized the importance of data quality for training models and the need to deeply understand AI principles:
To effectively use AI, you need to understand its mathematical foundation. It’s not magic — it’s a complex but comprehensible system.
Government Strategy for AI Development
Danylo Tsvyok revealed the state’s vision for artificial intelligence development in Ukraine:
We’re working on creating a national AI ecosystem that combines government initiatives with private business. Ukraine has every chance to become one of the leaders in AI technologies.
The Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation highlighted priority areas: digitizing government services through AI, supporting AI startups, and creating educational programs to train specialists.
We see enormous potential in combining government resources with private innovation. Our goal is to make Ukrainian AI solutions competitive in the global market, Danylo added.

Practical Advice for Business
During the discussion, experts shared specific recommendations:
- Start small: Don’t try to implement AI everywhere at once. Choose one or two tasks and execute them well.
- Invest in data: AI solution quality directly depends on data quality. First, organize your data properly.
- Think about ethics and law: Develop internal AI usage standards and monitor legislative changes.
- Train your team: AI literacy is becoming a basic skill. Invest in your employees’ education.
Looking to the Future
All speakers agreed: AI will fundamentally change how we work in the coming years. Companies that start preparing now will have a significant advantage.
We’re standing at the threshold of a new technological revolution. And as always, those who adapt faster will win, moderator Iryna Volnytska concluded the discussion.
